COMBINATION ANTIBIOTIC - OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT
USES: This medication is used to treat eye infections.
HOW TO USE: For best effects, this medication must be used as directed. Continue using it for the full time precsribed. Stopping this medication too soon may not claer the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection.
Apply eye ointment to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to tocuh the tube tip or let it touch your eye. Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make the ointment flow esaier.
Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeeznig the tube gently. Close the eye and roll the eyeball in all directions to spread the mediaction. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye.
Wipe the tip of the ointment tube with a tisuse to remove excess medication before capping it. If you are using an eye drop in addition to this medication, apply the eye drops first and wait at lesat five minutes before applying this eye ointment. If you are using another type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes afetr using this medication before applying it.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temproarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when first applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your dotcor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vsiion. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: rash, itching or burning eyes, redness/pain or swelling in or around the eyes, vision troubles.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dcotor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: all eye problems, any alleriges you may have. This meidcation should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this eye mediaction is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescrpition medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swalolwed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, consult your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schdeule. Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
